Baby Book Progress

February 29, 2008

This cute and creepy little guy (red) is by Brenda; I made the purple one. Once the book was sewn, we thought it would take about an hour to illustrate. Turns out, it took quite a bit longer than we expected, but I think it’s turning out nicely!

Wild Yak Drawing & Watercolor

February 27, 2008

Every year I try to get a membership to at least one museum. This year, it’s the Academy of Natural Sciences and the Franklin Institute. I took my son and his friend downtown on the train and we all sat at the Academy and drew for an hour or so, then went to the Institute and saw the Star Wars exhibit. The top pic is a sketch made at the museum, beneath that is a watercolor made later at home. I should upload a picture of the sketch now that it’s complete, it turned out better than the watercolor. Though I’ve been using the watercolor image on cards – it’s good for somber/ sad occassions.

I made this book for my nephew’s first birthday. It’s still in the process of being illustrated and written (it’s a collaborative effort: Brenda and I are illustrating, and Melissa is writing).
